Inspired by Tucson's unique mix of modern and historic architectural elements, I created a series of small oil paintings capturing iconic and everyday places using mid-century lines and colors and a touch of the desert. I used single-point perspective to pull the viewer into the piece, painting several thin layers, blending the hues to hide brush strokes so that the image simply became an extension of the surface. Many of the pieces were sold at pop-up markets around town, including Cultivate Tucson, Made in Tucson, RAD Market and the Tucson Flea.
